We are a small, local charity with one job: making sure young people in the east of the Island have somewhere to go, something to do and someone who listens.
Jersey Charity Commissioner
Association of Jersey Charities
These are the charitable objects as registered with the Jersey Charity Commissioner. Everything we do has to trace back to one of them.
To support the development of youth work opportunities for young people, so that age, income or postcode never decides who gets to join in.
To promote young people's personal and social development — confidence, teamwork, new skills and the resilience to navigate the years ahead.
To enable young people to have a voice which is heard in their local parish and in the Island of Jersey — not tokenistically, but in the rooms where decisions are made.
"The income and property of the charity are applied solely towards the promotion of the objects."
Registered objects — Jersey Charity Commissioner
A young person's ability to pay should never be the reason they miss out. Sessions are free, and we quietly cover costs where it matters.
We are Jersey-registered, volunteer-run and answerable to our members, their families and our parish. Our accounts are filed as required.
Members help shape the programme, plan the trips and speak up about what the Project should be doing next. It's their club.
Local families and volunteers start running informal youth sessions in the east of the Island, using whatever space they can borrow.
The Maufant Variety Youth Centre becomes the Project's home on La Grande Route de St Martin — a purpose-built space shared with the wider community.
The Project is formally registered with the Jersey Charity Commissioner and joins the Association of Jersey Charities as member AJC505.
The weekly timetable expands to separate sessions for younger and older members, and a holiday programme keeps the doors open all year.
Every session is staffed by unpaid volunteers, funded by donations from Islanders and local businesses. There is no head office and no core public funding.
Small charities run on people, not payrolls. These are the roles that keep the Project going.
The named contact for the charity on the Jersey register, responsible for governance, fundraising and liaison with the Charity Commissioner.
Local adults who give their evenings to run the club — setting up, cooking, refereeing, and being the person a young person can talk to.
Parents and former members who sit on the committee and keep the Project honest about what the Island's young people actually need.
Donate, volunteer a Tuesday evening, or refer a young person who could use somewhere to go.
